Thu, 5 February 2009 ![]() Switch is truly a classic R&B band. Formed in Mansfield, Ohio in 1974 under the name First Class, it featured brothers Bobby and Tommy DeBarge and Greg Williams, all of whom hailed from Grand Rapids, Michigan along with Akron, Ohio natives Phillip Ingram (brother of James Ingram), Eddie Fluellen and Jody Sims. As First Class they joined Barry White's group 'White Heat' as background musicians but were let go shortly thereafter. After that, they changed their name to Switch and were discovered by Jermaine Jackson who brought them to Motown Records. I Call Your Name was released in 1979 and peaked at #8 on the R&B chart. I love this song! Groove On! Comments[1] |
